Passive house running costs and Certification
One year on and its a great time to see how well this passive house is performing. As this passive house has a small condensing oil boiler we can confirm that it has used just under 600 litres in 12 months. With today's low oil prices this equates to about £150 per annum for heating and domestic hot water.
Obviously there are other more cost effective and carbon neutral options available, but the condensing oil boiler was the preferred option by the end user, so it is anticipated that this house could run off less than £150 per annum.
Its is apt also that this one year anniversary is also met with written approval from the Passive House Academy that certification has been granted and that the building will be entered onto the global data base of certified passive homes. Certification has been made even more revered knowing that it has been achieved in both the space heating demand of 15kWh/m²/a and the heat load of 10W/mm²
Thank you to all that were involved.
